On the north side of Hyde Park, Bayswater is an excellent budget area with cheap rooms during the week. Prices go up at weekends.

The most central of the B&B areas for which you pay a small premium. Cheap airport buses direct to all 4 major London airports.
Paddington

Price guide
The price differential between the cheapest B&B in London at around £55 for a double/twin room with breakfast to £150 per night or more reflects the wide difference in offerings between hotels advertising themselves as B&Bs, or to give their full name: Bed and Breakfast hotels.
Be not in doubt, the vast majority are not homely houses with a couple of rooms rented out by attentive family owners you find outside London. These are essentially small simple hotels with between 15 and 50 rooms, the very cheapest ones can be very basic.
What to expect from B&Bs in London?
There are still a handful of traditional family B&Bs, most of these are at the top end of the price scale and are no cheaper than neighbouring 3 or 4 star hotels often. London Bed and Breakfast hotels are typically 4, 5 or 6 storey Victorian terraced houses. Many will not have lifts or air-conditioning.
The hotel grading system is not helpful with B&Bs graded in a totally separate system to 2 or 3 star hotels that serve breakfast. In budget hotel districts like Earl's Court and Bayswater the terms B&B and 3 star hotel in the independent sector are almost interchangeable.
